AI art QR generators
These tools use an image-generation model (often a diffusion model with a control network) to paint a brand-new picture in which the QR pattern is hidden. The results can be beautiful and surprising, and they are great for one-off art.
The trade-offs: the picture is not your photo, so a real shopfront, product or couple becomes an AI interpretation of it. And because the pattern is painted rather than drawn, some results scan poorly; you may need to generate several and test each one. If you want a striking art piece and do not need your exact photo, this is a fine choice.
Dynamic QR tools
These services focus on function: short links you can edit after printing, detailed scan analytics, bulk creation, teams and integrations. The codes themselves are usually plain black squares, sometimes with a logo and custom colours. They are reliable and a good fit for large campaigns.
The trade-offs: the design options are limited, and some services stop redirecting your codes if your subscription ends, which can strand codes you have already printed. Read the terms before you print thousands.
QRPetal
QRPetal sits in between. It keeps your real photo and draws the QR pattern over it with the minimum marks needed, then checks the result with two QR readers and tells you honestly how well it scans. Where we are weaker, honestly: we do not generate new artwork, so a flat or low-contrast photo gives a plainer result than an AI tool might. We are also newer and smaller than the big dynamic QR services, and some features they have today (bulk creation from CSV, teams, API access) are still on our roadmap for the Business plan.
